Documents You Need

Documents change from one university to another. These are the most common ones:

  1. CV/Resume: Use any simple template. If you want to make a Europass CV, click here.
  2. Passport: You cannot apply without a passport.
  3. Recent photograph
  4. Educational documents: Degree certificates, academic transcripts, and related educational documents must be notarised, and the photocopies of these documents should be notarised rather than the originals. This authentication process can be completed at any local kachehri.
  5. Study plan or research proposal: Master’s students typically require a study plan, while PhD candidates must submit a research proposal. The standard word limits for these documents are as follows: Bachelor’s: a minimum of 200 words; Master’s: 500 words; PhD: 1,000 words (some universities have different limits).
  6. Language proof: Programs taught in English: Applicants whose most recent degree was conducted entirely in English are exempt from submitting IELTS scores but must provide an official English proficiency certification issued by their previous institution. Those whose prior academic qualifications were not delivered in English must submit valid IELTS or TOEFL scores according to specific university requirements. Programs conducted in Chinese: All applicants must present HSK credentials, with HSK Level 5 typically meeting the minimum language proficiency standard for admission consideration.
  7. Two recommendation letters: From professors or associate professors at your previous university.
  8. Statement of Purpose (SOP) or motivation letter
  9. Physical examination form: Applicants intending to study in China for durations exceeding six months are required to submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The validity period for these medical examination results is strictly confined to six months.
  10. CSCA exam score (Bachelor’s applicants only): Applicants seeking admission to bachelor’s degree programs are required to provide their CSCA examination results, with specific score requirements varying by institution.
  11. Acceptance letter: This document is a university requirement rather than a CSC requirement. Prospective applicants should consult their respective university websites for specific documentation requirements. Should the university require such documentation, candidates must contact professors via email to obtain formal acceptance prior to submitting an application.
  12. Your own work (arts or design applicants): For example, videos or paintings.
  13. Guardian documents (applicants under 18): You must submit your guardian’s legal documents from China.
Important

Do not prepare your application using only a general checklist. Once you have chosen a university, carefully read its requirements.
